How To Cancel Self Cleaning Oven Jenn Air
I was scared of using my self-cleaning oven.
But I was even more than scared of someone seeing the inside of it.
When I created the Kitchen Cleaning Checklist last week, I knew it was time to take the leap and figure out how to use a cocky-cleaning oven.
It was piece of cake. Not magic, but easy. First of all, I would advise that you read over your oven's teaching manual. I had no idea where mine was, and so I didn't. But I did remember my own mother using hers, so I went for information technology.
Yes, it's a little scary. Yes, I warned my kids that the oven was cleaning itself and non to get also close.
Basically, it works like this: The oven gets crazy-hot and burns upward all of the dirtiness. My oven, my female parent's oven, and I would hope ALL ovens . . . require that the oven is locked in order for the cleaning feature to be used. It so stays locked (information technology won't LET you unlock information technology) until it has cooled down later on cleaning. (I learned from you in the comments that I should have removed the racks before cleaning!)
That picture in a higher place was my oven before I cleaned information technology.
Totally embarrassing.
After three hours on the clean cycle, and nigh 45 minutes of cooling time, information technology looked like this:
Yes. Those are ashes.
Hither was the inside of the door prior to cleaning:
And after self-cleaning:
Big divergence. Simply not quite washed.
After information technology was cooled completely (FINE, after a few days . . . ), I used an egg-turner to move all the ashes together and then wiped out the oven.
It didn't take much effort to wipe information technology out.
And I do believe it was worth it:
Quite a big difference, don't you lot think?
The good:
Very little attempt is required. I just turned on the clean feature, locked it and three hours afterwards it was done.
Oven Cleaner is known for beingness 1 of the near horrible chemic cleaners out there. Using the self-cleaning feature meant I didn't have to use any chemicals.
Although I rarely thought about the state of my oven unless a guest used information technology . . . I'yard amazed at how hit the divergence is.
The bad:
That kind of heat is scary. I probably wouldn't desire to go out the house while it was going. (And once again, read your instruction manual!)
Although there isn't a chemic odor, yous can definitely smell the called-for off of the what-usedhoped-for-food. Might exist difficult for someone with breathing problems.
How do you clean your oven? How oftentimes?

Daily in December daily checklist update: It'southward Tuesday and I was gone ALL 24-hour interval. I didn't experience similar doing Whatsoever of my checklist tonight, only did clean the kitchen, start the dishwasher, swept the kitchen, checked bathrooms for clutter, airtight the cabinet door and did a mini-selection-up. Mini is in comparison to a 5 infinitesimal 1, so non much.
